Jerusalem-born Noam Demsky completed his military service before attending the Ma'aleh Film School and becoming an independent film director. His films have been shown on Israel television and also abroad. Demsky and his wife spent a year in Moldava where they set up a school for Jewish youth in Kishniev. It was on that trip that he first visited Uman.
