Gilli Mendel is the Director of Film and Media Education at the Jerusalem Film Center, home to the Jerusalem Cinematheque, the Israel Film Archive and the Jerusalem International Film Festival. Through her role in the Education Department she has initiated numerous film projects and film seminars for schools and professional organizations. Using film to explore social, political, cultural, and historic issues, Gilli also organized workshops and academic film courses for the public on a variety of cinema subjects and programs.

In recent years, Gilli has initiated the annual Wim Van Leer competition for Young Filmmakers at the Jerusalem International Film Festival. She and Jerusalem Cinemateque have also given youth the opportunity to present their films through the I Am - You Are self-identity seminar for Palestinian and Israeli students. The resulting film project received The Martha Prize for Democracy and Tolerance and has screened in festivals all over the world.

Gilli is part of the Jerusalem International Film Festival board and programming committee and is the director of special projects targeted for the film industry and the festival's public. She travels to film festivals, sits on International Festival juries and participates in film seminars and projects around the world. Gilli was also an artistic adviser to the Israel Film Fund and is a member of the European Film Academy.

Gilli will be in attendance in San Francisco, Berkeley and Palo Alto.
