Burning Lands

An exotic drama recounting the plight of a Tunisian family, circa 1950. The family is torn between French colonial culture, the Arabic country of their homeland, and the Jewish religion of their ancestors. One son is a local shopkeeper, another is an assimilationist who wants to move to France, the third is a Zionist whose dream of immigrating to Israel is complicated by his forbidden affair with an Arab woman. Each struggles with his father, an old olive grower who refuses to sell his land to the increasingly hostile Arabs.
