The JFI Filmmaker Residency program is an independent program of the Jewish Film Institute, presenters of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, which offers creative consultations, knowledge sharing, outreach opportunities, networking events, meeting and exhibition space on an annual basis.
As a result of COVID-19 this will be a virtual residency and all applicants living in North America will be considered.
Past filmmakers participants have expressed that the program has elevated their status in the film community, led to additional in-house and outside recognition and resources, aided in securing funding, and provided valuable peer-to-peer interaction.
Application Deadline EXTENDED through December 18th, 2020
All applicants will be notified by January 11, 2021
Each residency is awarded on an annual (12 month) basis.
There is no submission fee to apply for the Residency.
Preference is given to film projects that are aligned with the Jewish Film Institute's mission to inspire communities in the Bay Area and beyond to expand their understanding of Jewish life through film, media and dialogue. To ensure that projects have recognizable social, cultural and artistic value and a strong likelihood of completion, enrolled filmmakers are paired with JFI staff from different departments to increase cross-marketing and authentic collaborative opportunities such as co-sponsored film screenings and introductions to potential funders and supporters.
Selections are made by Jewish Film Institute's Programming Staff based on the applicant's filmmaking experience, the status of the project, and its alignment with JFI's mission statement.
