WinterFest 2018

WinterFest 2018 is the Jewish Film Institute's hallmark, year-round showcase of exciting and transcendent Jewish films from around the world. The 2018 edition will take place February 10 – 11, with Saturday's program at San Francisco's Vogue Theatre and Sunday's lineup at the Alamo Drafthouse New Mission Theatre.


WinterFest 2017

The fourth annual WinterFest – March 4-5, 2017 – expanded to two days of innovative Jewish film, including the blockbuster film The Zookeeper's Wife with director Nikki Caro in attendance. WinterFest 2016

The third annual WinterFest – February 27, 2016 – cemented JFI's hallmark, year-round showcase for new Jewish film as an essential stop on the Bay Area arts calendar. Featuring a collaboration with Citizen Film on a memorable musical performance and a sold-out screening of Natalie Portman's directorial debut A Tale of Love and Darkness, WinterFest 2016 also cemented the program's grounding in San Francisco's historic mission district.


SF Jewish Film x Film Noir Foundation

The 38th San Francisco Jewish Film Festival (July 19 – August 5, 2018) is teaming up with the Film Noir Foundation to present the Northern California Premiere of Budapest Noir, a classically styled hardboiled detective yarn exploring how Hungary reacted to the rise of the Third Reich. The film will be accompanied by a conversation between FNF's founder and president Eddie Muller and director Éva Gárdos on Saturday, July 21 at 6:00pm at the Castro Theatre.


SFJFF x MoAD

The 38th San Francisco Jewish Film Festival (July 19 – August 5, 2018) is teaming up with the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) to present Sammy Davis, Jr.: I've Gotta Be Me as the Festival's Closing Night selection with director Sam Pollard in person. Following the film, party with SFJFF and MoAD at the Closing Night Bash on the Castro's mezzanine.


SF Jewish Film x SF Silent Film

The 38th San Francisco Jewish Film Festival (July 19 – August 5, 2018) is teaming up with the San Francisco Silent Film Festival to present the International Premiere of The City Without Jews, a recently re-discovered 1924 silent film and biting satire about anti-Semitism. The film will be accompanied by an original live score performed by Sascha Jacobsen and the Musical Art Quintet on Sunday, July 22 at 7:00pm at the Castro Theatre.
