Bastille

Paul, an Amsterdam Jew born in 1943, becomes increasingly obsessed with his own history as he attempts to locate his twin brother (or is it his alter ego?) deported forty years ago to Bergen-Belsen. His search evolves into a fascinating exploration of post-Holocaust Jewish identity. Seamlessly acted and intelligently written, BASTILLE harks back to Antonioni's BLOW-UP with its daring climax in which imagination triumphs over fate.
