Gimpel the Fool

Ezra Schwartz's beautiful animated drawings evoke the mythical Eastern European world, and eccentric Jewish logic, of Isaac Bashevis Singer's GIMPEL THE FOOL.
Born in Israel in 1961, Director Ezra Schwartz studied filmmaking at Tel Aviv University and later at Columbia College, Chicago. He holds an MFA in filmmaking from the School of the Art Institute, Chicago. He and his wife Orit, live in Evanston, Illinois, where he supports his independent productions developing applications for the Houghton Mifflin publishing house. His films were screened and broadcast in the US and internationally, and were purchased by organizations and museums, including the Diaspora Museum in Tel Aviv and the Spertus Museum in Chicago. Ezra is currently working on his new animated masterpiece.
