Full Description
An impressive and relevant documentary on the disillusionment of a twentieth century revolutionary, Sal Santen. Born in Amsterdam in 1915, Santen was a Jewish leftist and anti-fascist in the 1930s and 1940s (his family was wiped out by the Nazis), a leader of the Trotskyist Fourth International (the non-Stalinist wing of Bolshevism), and a professional revolutionary who served time in prison as a consequence of his illegal aid to the Algerian liberation struggle. His painful departure from the movement twenty years ago reflects deep personal motives. Few have heard of this lonely, stubborn rebel who inspires us through the coherence and honesty of his political vision. 1982 Best Dutch Documentary of the Year.
