Song-Filled Tomorrows

A happy Parisian family in the early 1950s finds their identity as Communists and Jews suddenly challenged by circumstance. Lithuanian-born Marcel Slivovitz, a warmhearted furrier, spends Sundays with his wife and teenagers, Claire and Thomas, at the Party cell singing songs about peace and justice. One day his nephew Yaneck arrives from the USSR with a touring ballet company. Trembling with pride, the Slivovitzes celebrate their Soviet relative as a hero at a party their comrades have thrown in his honor. But then Yaneck steals out a window and vanishes forever. The Soviets accuse them of complicity in the embarrassing defection of this Russian, and life for the Slivovitzes is no longer what it used to be. With the great Polish actor Wojtek Pszoniak (THE TIN DRUM, DANTON).
