The Wannsee Conference

THE WANNSEE CONFERENCE is a riveting "you are there" recreation of an eighty-five minute meeting that took place in a pleasant Berlin suburb on January 20, 1942. Fifteen state officials - including Adolph Eichmann and Reinhard Heydrich - had only one item on their agenda: the Final Solution. Detailed notes taken by a secretary form the basis of this fast-paced screenplay, which emphasizes the casual atmosphere of the Nazis' ruthless decision-making. Over cognac and linzertorte, while Heydrich flirts with his secretary, these men set the liquidation of the Jews in motion. THE WANNSEE CONFERENCE is a painful reminder of our own capacity for numbness in the face of limitless brutality.
