Unwinding the Thread

A 1997 Jewish Video Competition Winner, UNWINDING THE THREAD examines geographic and emotional displacement, weaving transitory images of a train trip through lush Brazilian countryside and phone conversations between a mother and daughter.
Brazilian born Enie Vaisburd holds a B.A. in French Literature from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel and an M.F.A.degree in cinema from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Enie's work relates personal experience to larger cultural subjects, creating a personal perspective and an emotional connection to social issues that are relevant to her life. As a Latin American Jewish woman living in the U.S., her work is articulated with the point of view of the social space that she occupies. Her experience includes organizing and curating visiting artists programs and festivals as well as teaching film and video production classes. Enie is currently teaching video workshops and film production at the Miracle Theatre and at the Northwest Film Center in Portland, Oregon.
