A Specially Wonderful Affair

Featuring the residents of the Jewish Home, San Francisco and the inspiration of singer/songwriter, Judith-Kate Friedman, this delightful movie documents the creative process of our elders as they write original music, rehearse and perform. Judith-Kate Friedman is the Home's songwriter-in-residence as well as a solo artist and member of Vocolot, a women’s a cappella ensemble. She started the songwriting program through a grant from the California Arts Council to enable residents to sing their stories and to create a legacy of songs about their lives.
Nathan Friedkin, a digital filmmaker and editor, learned about filmmaking while working as an assistant to L.A. indie director Henry Jaglom and Academy Award-winning documentarian Michelle Ohayon. His full-service production company, Friedkin Digital, now operates in the Bay Area and has produced videos for LIVE 105, Alice @ 97.3, The Solano Stroll and The Oakland Art & Soul Festival. Nathan was born in Jerusalem and has recently returned from collecting footage in Israel for his upcoming documentary on Rabbis for Human Rights and the Israeli Peace Movement. He lives in Berkeley with his wife and two sons.
