Full Description
A series of intimate video vignettes depicting the fierce love between Maverna and Sandi, 88 and 22, grandmother and grandson. The two playmates dress up drag-esque to arrive at a moving portrait of a woman's life and the struggle with gender and sexuality across three generations. Now that Malverna has died, Tomboychik has become a living memorial to her ferocity of spirit.

Sandi Simcha DuBowski (Director, Producer) is a filmmaker and writer based in New
York. His current project, Trembling Before G-d is a USA/France/Israel co-production. It is
being co-produced with Keshet Broadcasting/Channel Two in Israel, the nation's most
significant television network and the station's first-ever outright co-production with U.S.
IFFCON, and The Independent Feature Project's No Border for Docs.
He is a recipient of the Rockefeller Foundation's 1999 Film/Video/Multimedia Fellowship. In
addition, his work has received support from Skywalker Sound - a division of Lucas Digital,
Ltd. as well as over twenty foundations including: The Creative Capital Foundation, The
National Foundation for Jewish Culture's Fund for Jewish Documentary Filmmaking, The
Jerome Foundation, The Nathan Cummings Foundation, The Ruth/Allen Ziegler

In 1992, DuBowski graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University. He received
