One of the first fiction films to emerge from the culture of the feminist movement, GIRLFRIENDS is the story of Susan Weinblatt (Melanie Mayron of the television series "Thirtysomething"), an aspiring young New York photographer who is struggling to make her way in the world. Weill's film chronicles changes, choices, and conflicts in Weinblatt's life.
