Full Description
POOR BUTTERFLY weaves together two stories that take place amidst the turmoil and intrigue of the post World War II period in Argentina. Despite the Axis defeat in Europe, Nazis are clandestinely smuggling their elites into Argentina with the help of high level government officials. Meanwhile, Clara, a beautiful and politically naive Buenos Aries radio star, obtains from her father a secret list giving the names and contacts of these top Nazi exiles. Clara's life is complicated: her father is a Jewish Communist and an investigative journalist, while her mother is Catholic. When her father dies mysteriously, she begins to come to grips with her mixed heritage, political identity, and with the conflicting needs of the many men in her life. Her struggle propels her out of the safe world of radio soap operas into the streets, where fascists and radicals are vying for power.
