Full Description
With a great sound track of 1970s rock music, this latest film by the maker of CUP FINAL (1992 SFJFF) and ZOHAR (1994 SFJFF) covers nine days in the lives of six Israeli friends prior to the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Four rock musicians in a run-down industrial neighborhood east of Haifa are waiting for their big Tel Aviv break. They rehearse, hang out and rock out at the local bar, Vulcan Junction, owned by a burnt-out American hippie. The friends all have dreams and are on the verge of new beginnings. A local soccer star will stop at nothing to get a contract with an Amsterdam team. His smart and sexy girlfriend has to choose between family and her aspirations to break out of the mold by becoming a journalist with a left-wing newspaper. Stories of ambition and love, with a sense of endless possibility, are interrupted one morning with early news of war.
VULCAN JUNCTION is a nostalgic voyage to the last days of innocence in the lives of young people and the last moments before a whole country was engulfed by a war that would forever change it. Featuring our favorite Israeli hunk, Sami Houri (FLORENTENE, SFJFF 1998, 1999) and music from Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, King Crimson, The Hollies, Jethro Tull, The Zombies, and The Animals.
