Full Description
In this black comedy, a Georgian Jewish factory worker suddenly finds himself chosen by the KGB to stand in for Stalin, who frequently used doubles to achieve his paranoid aims. The double is naively proud of his role, while Stalin is hardly pleased by the man's Jewish background. Kvirikadze's absurdist film, full of inventive hand-held camerawork, playful editing and actual film footage of Stalin, is an ironic comment on the Soviet era's obsession with constructing images of the "Great Leader."
